D SENIOR VOTED FOR THE BEST STORY IN CLASS & HERE'S THE WINNER: OUR WONDERFUL AND HARDWORKING STUDENT FAY ZAHARAKI

Last summer my family and I went to Lefkada for our summer holidays. We stayed at a hotel by the beach.
One day, we decided to go smimming on a deserted beach.
When we arrived, there was noone there, we were alone. First , we pitched our tent because we had decided to stay there for a couple of days.
The days passed and we had to leave. Before we left the place I decided to go swimming since it was very hot. So, I got in the sea and while I was smimming I felt a very sharp pain. I screamed and my parents got me out of the water.
Then my father gave me some medicine and my mother said "It was a box jellyfish. They are poisonous". My parents quickly carried me to the nearest hospital. I stayed there for two weeks because the poison got in my body. The doctor said I was very lucky because many people had died of jellyfish poison.
When I left the hospital I felt proud of myself, and my parents, too, because their daughter had survived death and they took me a mobile phone as a present.
When they gave it to me I told them " Let's go to Lefkada, again " and they said "You're crazy my dear".

My room

My room is pink and white. It's vey big. There is a desk, a big bed, a bookcase and a big chair in it. The floor is white and all of my furniture is pink!
I don't share my room with anyone and I like it.
When I'm in my room, I read books and I play games with my sister. I always invite friends and we play computer games.
I would never change my room. It's fantastic!

My favourite animal

My favourite animals are wolves.
They have got long ears, long tails and black fur.
I like them because they are very clever and they can run very fast.
They live in the mountains and eat meat.
I have never seen a wolf but I want to see one and take it back home!
When I think of them I feel very happy.

An essay about our planet's rubbish problem

Towns and cities have a problem with rubbish. There are not enough places to put it. What can we do about it?
The problem with rubbish is that we are running out of places to put it. Also, it makes the air dirtier. This makes our lives unpleasant.
We can start recycling programs and we can also organize clean-up days. In these ways, we can reduce the amount of rubbish.
To conclude, we can all help reduce the amount of rubbish. This way, we can enjoy a healthier life.

The Three Holy Hierarchies

The Three Holy Hierarchies are mentioned as three eminent saints and theologians of the Christian religion, protectors of literature and education. Their names are John Chrysostom, Basil the Great and Gregory of Nazianzus or Gregory the Theologian.

Their wisdom and their actions gave them the title of the "maximum luminaries" as the troparion goes "The Three Maximum Luminaries of the Triune Godhead".

They showed commitment to the Christian religion and their lives were the example of that struggle.

Both their writings and their oral teaching gave glory to the Christian Religion and Education.

Their profound understanding of religion and excellent command of Greek civilazation offered the basis for the formulation of the Greek Christian education and culture.
For their great contribution to literature they were proclaimed protectors of education.

For their wisdom and Christian life the Orthodox Church named them Saints and celebrate each individual.Because of a disagreement among Christians about which of the Three offered the most,
a joint celebration was decided on 30th January every year.

- Their names are Basil, John and Gregory.

AT PASCUCCI WITH E SENIOR

27/01/2012

Dear all,

Here’s the activity of the week, this time with Esen. On Friday afternoon, some of the students from this class went out to Pascucci café with Mrs Efi to have a drink.

The aim of this activity was to practice on using appropriate language to order a drink, ask for information, make a suggestion, ask for the bill and so on, among other objectives such as being polite, refusing and accepting, bargaining in a game, socializing.

The students and their teacher communicated only in English, had a juice of their preference, played a board game called PICTIONARY, had a photo or two to capture the moment and had a discussion on various topics e.g concerning their school trips. There were some very funny moments, especially while playing the board game PICTIONARY, since students had to draw pictures in different ways.

There were some absentees in this activity and we thought of them at times but we do hope that we’ll be able to do something else all together very soon. The students who were present though were the following: The ‘super boy and gentleman’ of the team Mr Jim Doussias, the lovely girls Miss Nikoleta Tsouvaltzidi, Miss Ifigenia Koutouki, Miss Theodora Samada, Miss Aggeliki Tsakalou and their teacher Mrs Efi. Here are a couple of pictures for you all to look at.

We did enjoy our afternoon out because we shared some time together speaking in English without books & homework and we felt great when we realized that it’s great to speak another language when we have fun, don’t you agree so? . Shall we repeat it soon then? I loved it!

Warm regards,
Mrs Efi
